This fundraiser helps 72 Ukrainian teenagers aged 13–17 take part in Poburlakuemo Svitamy 2026 (eng. "Let's Wander the Worlds") – a Plast scout summer camp running this year in two locations: in Ukraine, for children who have stayed in the country, and in Spain, for those displaced to Europe by the war.
Plast is the Ukrainian Scout Organisation. It has existed since 1911 and is Ukraine’s largest youth organisation. The purpose of Scouting is to contribute to the development of young people physically, intellectually, emotionally, socially, and spiritually to help them achieve their full potential.
About the camps
‘Poburlakuemo Svitamy 2026’ (eng. ‘Let’s Wander the Worlds’) is a safe space where teenagers explore the world through sport, nature and meaningful in-person interaction. The camp programme is structured around four active stages: rock climbing, hiking, water rafting and cycling. The main focus is the bonds the children form through shared challenges and adventures.
The camp has its roots in Ukraine, where it ran annually from 2007. After Russia’s full-scale invasion, we brought the model to Europe so that displaced children in the diaspora wouldn't lose touch with their language, culture, and each other. Last year, the first such camp in the EU took place in Slovakia. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and the children themselves note that the camp helped them make new friends and encouraged them to keep in touch.
The Ukraine camp is designed for children who haven’t left the country, those facing a different set of challenges: the daily reality of war and interrupted childhoods. Poburlakuemo Svitamy aims to create a space for self-discovery, dreaming, and adventure through sport as a reminder that even in the hardest of times, there is still room to grow, to explore, and to be young.
Who are these children?
Last year, in EU 80% of participants were refugees who fled Ukraine after the invasion. For their families, which have rebuilt their lives from scratch in foreign countries, the cost of a summer camp is a significant financial burden.
The children attending the Ukraine camp face a different but no less pressing reality: they live under a constant threat, air raid sirens, missile shellings and the daily weight of war. For them, the camp is a chance to be teenagers, to laugh, experience a bit of undivided happiness and make friends, without the war defining every moment of their summer.
Who we are
The entire organising team has experience working with children and has helped organise many similar events. The entire organising team works voluntarily. We contribute our own time and resources, and receive no financial compensation.
What will the funds be used for?
We are raising funds to cover camp fees for children who couldn't otherwise attend, prioritising those from socially vulnerable families, participants originating from occupied or frontline regions, and from families of active, former or fallen servicemembers.
We would be grateful for any contribution to the future of Ukrainian youth!
