We are Filipp and Yana Ignatovich. We have been in the United States since 1989 (Yana) and 1999 (Filipp). We are desperately trying to raise funds to assist Filipp's cousin Tatiana Ogienko, a single mother, to escape war in Ukraine and unite her with her daughter, Sonya, who is currently sheltered in Italy. 

 

Tatiana lives in Zhytomyr, 80miles away from Kyiv. Due to its proximity to the capital, the city is subject to daily air raids and bombings. The war had separated Tatiana from her 17-year-old daughter, who was on a work trip to Italy when the bombing started.

 

Tatiana plans to start her treacherous trip on Saturday, March 26, by taking an evacuation train to the border with Poland. We do not know what will happen next or how she will manage after she reaches her daughter in Italy. They may stay in Italy to wait for the war to end, or continue to the United States or Canada. As you can imagine, it is a highly fluid situation. We will be posting updates about her progress.

 

We know that people want to help Ukrainians. This is an opportunity to aid a Ukrainian family in their efforts directly. Any funds raised will go directly to assist Tatiana and her child in leaving Ukraine until the Russian invasion ends. We will help Tatiana with any additional expenses she will likely encounter. We really hope we can help reunite and keep this family safe.
