Help Ukrainian Refugee family in Atlanta, GA

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Agnieszka Harutyunyan. I am fundraising for a Ukrainian refugee Zakharchenko family who came to Atlanta, GA (as of right now, we host them at our house in Lawrenceville, GA) to start their life from scratch in the US. This family lost everything when the war started in Ukraine on February 24th, 2022.

Just days before the Russian invasion started, Vitaliy (dad) arrived in the US for a short trip as a part of a Chrsitian mission. His wife Nina and two kids (4 and 9 years old) spent days in a bomb shelter before fleeing Kyiv. Their appartment building was 5 miles from the Russian invasion forces near Bucha and Irpin. First the mom and kids escaped to Krakow, Poland where they found a hosting family. They spent almost three months there while Vitaliy was trying to organize their transfer to the US. The US government recently opened up its borders to help Ukrainian refugees, through “Uniting for Ukraine” program which allowed the mom and kids to travel to the US this week and reunite with the dad. Our family decided to help as much as possible, and we posted our information on ICANHELP.HOST, which is a worldwide site assisting Ukrainians to find housing abroad. We were contacted by Vitaliy, who asked for help, and this is how our story started. While we provide temporary shelter and food to this beautiful family of 4, we are aware this is not a long term solution and this is not enough to help them start over. We only have one bedroom where all four sleep on a bed and a mattress. We are looking for donations to help this family to get started with their independent life in a new country. There are a lot of immediate needs they have. Unfortunately, the government program does not provide any financial assitance and they have lost all their savings bacuse of the economic crash that followed the invasion. The proceeds raised in this gofundme will go towards their immediate needs such as a very needed car (so that Vitaliy will be able to go to work), to secure the apartment lease, as well as towards the immigration fees to apply for work authorization, medical tests (immigration requirement), necessary vaccinations etc.

I am asking our friends and community to help in any way you can. Any amount will help. Please donate from the heart and remember kindness is most important at this time in our World.

Sending everyone much love,

Agnieszka Harutyunyan
