Hello, my name is Liubov and I'm a trained ESOL teacher. Many Ukrainian moms with their children have fled the war, finding refuge here in the UK. Yet, while adults are given government-funded ESOL support, children are mostly left "to float" along in our English-speaking classrooms. Many schools simply do not have ESOL specialists on hand, who could help these refugee children with language acquisition.

And so, these traumatised children experience yet another type of trauma - a linguistic one. Imagine being placed in a Japanese classroom, with a different alphabet, a different everything!

I have had the privilege of teaching over 30 Ukrainian refugee children between April and December 2022, all funded by friends and strangers alike who wanted to help these little ones adjust to English-speaking classrooms in this new home they find themselves in. And now - I have over 20 new families who are asking for English language classes and have enrolled their children for the online ESOL course.

So, here I am again - asking whether you would support these children's English learning.

I'll be delivering 48 hours of ESOL to 26 Ukrainian refugee children across 2 groups (beginners and elementary). Classes have started on January 30 and these children a fantastic bunch!
