Help Ukrainian Orphan Refugees

Hello, my name is Jonathan and my wife, Kerra, and I are trying to raise money for a Ukrainian orphanage and children's ministry close to our hearts called Sunshine Children's Center (www.sunshine-kiev.org) that has had to flee Ukraine to Switzerland due to the war.

 

My wife and I adopted our daughter, Alina, from Ukraine 2 years ago in 2020. Sunshine Children's Center was where Alina lived from age 9 until we adopted her at age 16. This organization does incredible work caring for orphans that come from particularly difficult circumstances. Nadia Chernukha is the director there and she, and her entire staff, have a true passion and heart for these children. We have visited the home several times and have gotten a chance to spend time with Nadia and her staff.

 

The children's home is located on the outskirts of Kyiv and they had to make the difficult decision to leave the area due to the Russian invasion and danger it posed for the children. A difficult journey ensued across Ukraine to flee into Poland - 5 cars with 28 people and 9 children took 40 hours with little sleep and 15 hours just to cross the border. The children could only take a few belongings with them. There are other staff who stayed behind in Kyiv and are taking in families in the house they left. None of the men were allowed to cross into Poland with them so they are separated from husbands and other relatives.

 

They are now safe in Switzerland and have a place to stay, but do not know what their future holds or for how long. In addition to supplies for the kids with them, they are also trying to provide for family and staff left behind in Ukraine. They are also trying to provide for children that have graduated from their home who they are still in contact with and are in need of food and medicine.

 

Anything you could provide would be most appreciated and will go a long way to directly supporting these kids who in addition to not having a family, are now uprooted from their home and country as well.  All funds will go directly to the orphanage via Paypal.  A method we have used multiple times in the past to support this organization.
