Hi, my name is Julie, and I'm fundraising for my friends to rebuild their community in Ukraine, Mykolaiv during the Russia-Ukraine War.
As someone not currently in Ukraine and a daughter of a Vietnamese refugee, I feel helpless scrolling through my friend's social media feed and seeing their lives forever changed and their cities destroyed. The very least I can do is send money and set up this GoFundMe on their behalf.
For my friends in the center of the conflict, Andrey Sazonov and Ivan Kurynskyi, I can't begin to comprehend what they're going through. Despite the immense hardship, as able-bodied and compassionate people, they're spending their energy helping those who can't help themselves during this time in need.
Since the start of the war, they have already helped 250 families and elderly people get food and medicine. Many roads are wrecked and those with children, disabilities or of old age have challenges traveling and moving around safely in hot zones.
To move around and purchase groceries, Andrey and Ivan have been operating solely on individual donations. They don't advertise their aid, but word-of-mouth has spread and they're happy to help as many people as they can. The $20k target goal is meant to stretch over the next 6 months and support as many homes and people in Mykolaiv as possible.

- How do I know Andrey and Ivan? Ukraine is a flourishing tech hub with many talented engineers and technical artists. Many agencies like the one I am a part of have international teams that partner in this unique market. I've known Andrey for 5+ years and have worked closely with Ivan for almost 2 years.
- How did this idea start? During a visit to the grocery store, Ivan saw prices rise 2-3 times as normal. He noticed many elderly people were unable to afford it and go hungry. On another trip, he saw a pregnant woman with two children resting by a store. He helped her buy everything she needed and escorted her home safely.
- What can $20 cover? $20 USD in Ukraine can cover somewhere around 20 meals.

Other notes: There are many organizations to donate to that will help the whole of Ukraine, which I strongly recommend that you donate to also if you have the means. We're not an organized non-profit nor plan to be, but if you can donate please know that your money will be used directly to help the morale of my friends and everyday individuals living in wartorn Mykolaiv.
