Help Ukrainian Couple Fleeing the War Get Settled
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jai. Like so many people, I've been horrified by the war unfolding in Ukraine. I wanted to help, so I got in touch with Ukraine Take Shelter, an organization that connects Ukrainian refugees with potential hosts in other countries. They put me in touch with two young refugees from Kryvyi Rih in the south of Ukraine.
Angelina Korzh and Vlad Zuzu are both 24 years old. Lina has worked as a pet groomer and Vlad as a computer programmer. They've already found some work here in Vancouver, but the couple will be coming with almost nothing.
I've been assisting them to get to Vancouver, where they've chosen to start a new life. They've finally received an emergency visa for Canada and will be arriving in mid-May. They'll be staying with me until they can get a place of their own.
Vlad Needs a New Laptop for Work
Vlad's laptop -- his tool for work -- has broken down. I tried to get a donated laptop, but the ones on offer were too old to be useful to a programmer.
By contributing to a laptop, you'll help Angelina and Vlad feel safe and secure in their new life here in Canada. They haven't asked for this, but I know we can raise enough money to help them out. I'm grateful for any donation you can provide.
Any extra funds will go to them directly to help with the cost of getting a new apartment, furniture and all the other basics they'll need.
