Help Ukrainian CofI alumnus get sister to safety

One of the defining traits of our CofI community is the vibrant international community. I genuinely hope we have been enhancing your experience at CofI and benefited the community. However, being here far away from home sometimes comes with complications… I am sure most of you know the terrifying events that have been happening in Ukraine for more than a month since Russia invaded Ukraine. I personally appreciate very much the professors and administrative staff checking in and asking if my family is alright and safe. Unfortunately, they are not, no one is safe in Ukraine right now. They wake up to sirens, hide in bomb shelters multiple times per day and every single minute risk their house and their lives being destroyed by another air attack.

Ukrainian CofI alumnus Alex Tarasenko is currently putting tremendous efforts into bringing his sister to safety and helping her get to him in the United States. In addition to being a very nerve-wracking process, it is also very costly. Therefore, I decided to try to seek some support for him from our campus community. I am sure those who got to teach him or interact in any other way know that he is an amazingly hardworking, dedicated, and intelligent young man. He was my personal example to follow all the way through college. Even since the beginning of the war, he has been actively supporting Ukrainians back home, sharing information, protesting, donating, and volunteering. I know it will help him significantly to have his sister safe next to him now to accomplish more great things! So, I am asking for any financial support anyone is able and willing to give.
