Hello again everybody! I am once again asking for donations, and I apologize in advance for still having to do this. Jobs are difficult come by in my field right now and not really getting any easier.
ANYWAY. Previously we fundraised about $1,800 toward the $4,630 that I need for Uday's eye removal surgery. Unfortunately, the electric company took out three months of our bill that day, taking a significant chunk of that money and leaving themselves unable to return it in any form other than a credit. So $600 from that original fundraiser remains, cashed out and in an envelope where PGE can't get it. So, we need $4,030 for the operation. HOWEVER, there is a bonus here.
Uday has pet insurance! And they pay 90% of this operation. HOWEVER, I must have the full amount of money up-front in order for the vet's office to move forward, and then a few weeks later the insurance would pay me out the costs of the operation (less the ten percent, which we have already covered with the $600 alone!). At that point, I would basically be getting all of your donations back as pocket money, which...scummy and not great. Yall expect better of me.
So here's the fun part!
You can donate, today, to help save Uday's comfort by removing his eyes, the only viable treatment for his glaucoma, and once he's safe and healthy and I've gotten the payout from the insurance company, I will use the remaining money to purchase safety equipment (namely, a Kevlar vest) and round-trip tickets to Warsaw this September, where I will once again hop on a 19-hour train to Kyiv. My last trip did not afford me the time I needed to conduct all the interviews I wanted, and there are things I'd like to follow up on.
So, to summarize: Donate today to save a cat and you'll also help me fulfill my life mission of bringing you all the best information possible about some of the most convoluted issues on this planet.
Thanks for reading yall!
