Help UCSD Pushpanjali Compete Nationally
Donation protected
UCSD Pushpanjali is a collegiate competitive Indian Classical Dance Team committed to creating a positive environment for dancers and sharing the beauty of Indian culture. Since our founding, we've worked to uplift the Indian dance community and raise awareness through dance.
In 2023, we competed in Laasya Dance Competition in Seattle and hosted our first charity show, Maitri, raising funds for Sakhi for South Asian Women. This year, we’ve competed in three competitions across Seattle, San Francisco, and Maryland. We were honored to place 1st at Sitaara in Seattle and 2nd at Mayuri in Maryland. Now, we are beyond excited to attend the Origins National Championship in Chicago in just a few weeks!
However, due to the limited funding that our school provides, we need your support. Your donation will be directly allocated to our competition expenses, including flight tickets, purchasing costumes, and booking accommodations. To attend 3 competitions this year, our team has spent more than $15,000, with the vast majority of this being out of pocket. A breakdown of our competition costs includes:
$9230 for flights
$1800 for hotel rooms
$2300 for registration
$1500 for costumes
$1000 for miscellaneous expenses (food, transportation, etc.)
We are seeking donations to help cover the costs of attending nationals. Your support will not only allow us to compete but will also help preserve and promote an important cultural tradition.
Our piece this year, Apmaan, aims to shed light on the heartbreaking reality of caste-based and socioeconomic honor killings that continue to persist globally today. By supporting us, you’re helping share these important stories and amplify voices that need to be heard.
Every donation, big or small, makes a difference. Thank you for helping us continue this journey and share our passion for dance and culture!
