Help Tyson Receive His Life-Changing Surgery

On Saturday night 1/9, we noticed all of a sudden Tyson wasn’t acting himself. He wouldn’t come to us and he wouldn’t take any treats and he was shaking so we thought maybe we just lifted him wrong, we didn’t really know what was going on. We called multiple animal hospitals and they were all about 6-7 hour waits so we decided just to wait until the morning, maybe he will be back to normal. In the morning we noticed he was grunting when we picked him up and he sort of had a wobble when he walked, he then started panting like crazy for hours after. We then took him to VCA in Ontario for them to take a look and let us know whats could be happening. They told us it looked like his neck could be tweaked and they sent us home with pain and anti-inflammatory medication. He seemed better all through the night but the next morning he started panting again and he couldn't fully stand, we decided to then take him to Animal Urgent Care in Burbank to see if maybe they could take more serious tests. They ended up doing some x-rays and a blood test, they found that Tyson’s vertebrae is twisted and misshapen in about 12 different places and they also found something in his liver to be higher than normal. They recommended we call poison control to make sure he didn’t accidentally eat some strange flower or something, we called and concluded that was not the issue and the doctor sent him home with more medication. The next day he seemed even better, he still had a few times where he was panting however he seemed to walk a little better and take more food/water, so we were very optimistic. During this time we learned about IVDD and the dangers it can lead to, thinking hopefully he can heal with medication and it will not lead to surgery. On Wednesday 1/13, he was himself all morning long. He snuggled with me for a few hours and slept on his own until about 1pm. Once he got up he started having more diarrhea and we noticed small amounts of blood in his poop, he also started his panting again, but this time it lasted for about 5-6 hours. He wouldn’t stand at all as I’m sure its very painful for him, he would also sit with his legs kind of weird one facing the back and one in the front, he looked almost paralyzed. We knew then that obviously his medication does not seem to be helping at all and my poor baby is hurting so badly. We decided to take him to ACCESS in Woodland Hills to get a third opinion and hopefully see if he can see a neurologist as well. There is an extremely high chance Tyson will need this surgery to put his disc back into place due to him not responding to medication, this surgery is an 80% success rate. The MRI the neurologist is going to do will cost $3000, and the surgery itself costs about $10000. At this point we have already spent about $3000 on medications and doctor visits. Please help as this is our baby, our best friend and we want him to have a healthy full life, he is only 3 years old. If we are not able to give him the surgery, it is likely he will stay/weak almost paralyzed on his back legs and he will still have lots of pain. We have been besides ourselves with worry trying to hope the best but its come down to the wire, we just want to help Tyson feel the best he can feel without anymore pain. He is our everything and we need him here with us. Please donate or share if you can, anything helps. Thank you.
