Help Tyrion Overcome Severe Health Challenges
Donation protected
update: we've reached the goal!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU SO MUCH for donating from the bottom of my heart I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH.
This fund is to help me with the medical costs for Tyrion, my husky. He is 5 years old and is dealing with a lot of health issues. He was recently diagnosed with immune-mediated polyarthritis (IMPA), which is an inflammatory disease that causes painful swelling in a dog's joints (similar to rheumatoid arthritis in humans). He needed a lot of blood work and labs done, which cost me $4,900 in October. He's been stable on meds; however, he has developed another condition the vets believe is immune-mediated hemolytic anemia (IMHA). He became extremely anemic, and I rushed him to the hospital where he is now receiving blood transfusions because his blood level was as low as 6% when it should be around 35-40% for dogs. He's currently hospitalized under evaluation, hoping to get him released soon. The bill for last night's ER visit was $8,100 total. I was charged $5,600 initially for all the lab work needed plus transfusion, and then charged $2,500 today to keep him hospitalized so he can have another transfusion plus additional blood work testing. I have pet insurance; however, my plan only covered $500 per year of medical expenses, which I wasn't aware of until I needed the financial help. I got his insurance when he was a puppy and was not knowledgeable about the kind of plan to buy. I recently upgraded my pet insurance to cover up to $10,000 per year; however, preexisting conditions must wait 365 days to kick in on those benefits, and given his condition was diagnosed prior to me upgrading the insurance, he is not currently covered, and I won't be able to submit any of these current claims next year; they won't carry over. So my only option is to take out care credit and apply for loans that I can't afford, which is putting me in a lot of future debt. I didn't want to ask for help, but I am in desperate need at this time. The vet is telling me Tyrion may need surgery for an ulcer he developed, possibly as a side effect from his steroid therapy, and I already know that will be costly if I go that route. Any, and I mean any, assistance you can give would be so greatly appreciated. This was my last option, and I so didn't want to ask, but some wise people in my life advised me it couldn't hurt to ask. Tyrion is the light of my life. I adopted him due to loneliness and needing a companion, and he has fulfilled everything and more. I have to do everything I can for him to prolong his life. So I am humbly asking for any help you feel led to give.
