On Tuesday, February 17th, 2026, a day that should have been about a father reuniting with his children turned into a nightmare. Tyrell Carr was looking forward to picking up his two daughters, Amirah and Avi, in Madill, Oklahoma. He hadn't seen them in a few days and was excited to spend quality time with them.
However, what awaited him was not a routine exchange, but a senseless act of violence and betrayal.
Tyrell was lured into the home by the children's mother, where an armed individual, Darion Hampton, was waiting in ambush. In plain sight of his two terrified daughters, Tyrell was shot.
The attack caused catastrophic damage to his groin and kidneys, leaving him in critical condition and facing a long, painful road to recovery.
The Aftermath
Because of the extreme nature of this violence and the danger posed to the children, DHS has stepped in and removed Amirah and Avi from the mother's care. While the children are safe for now, they are deeply traumatized by what they witnessed.
Tyrell is currently hospitalized and unable to work. As a result of this ambush, he is fighting two battles at once:
* The Physical Battle: Recovering from life-altering internal injuries.
* The Legal Battle: Pursuing full permanent custody to ensure his daughters never have to experience this kind of terror again.
How Your Support Helps
We are reaching out to the community, friends, and family to help Tyrell and his girls rebuild their lives. Your donations will go directly toward:
* Emergency Medical Bills: Covering the extensive surgeries and specialized trauma care Tyrell requires.
* Lost Income Replacement: Providing for Tyrell’s basic needs and his children's care while he is unable to work.
* Legal Fees: Funding the necessary legal representation to secure full custody of his daughters.
* Mental Health Care: Providing trauma-informed counseling for Tyrell and, most importantly, for Amirah and Avi as they process the violence they witnessed.
How You Can Help
Anything you are able to contribute—no matter the size—is a lifeline for this family. If you are unable to donate at this time, we ask that you please share Tyrell’s story. Awareness is just as valuable as financial support in ensuring Tyrell and his daughters receive the justice and stability they deserve.
Thank you for your prayers, your kindness, and your generosity during this incredibly difficult time.
God Bless,
