Update as of February 14: It’s with a very heavy heart that I share this news. Tyler died at home on February 14 after a week of in home hospice. We never got to make it to Norway but he is no longer in pain. I can’t thank you enough for your generosity and support of this dream we had. Hopefully Jasper and I can go to Norway one day in Tyler’s honor.

We are trying to make a memorable trip happen for our family of 3 while Tyler is still healthy enough to travel. His cancer is incurable, aggressive, and progressing, and we know our time together as a family is limited.

Travel has always been something we have enjoyed, first as a couple, traveling as far away as Japan, and then as a family, visiting Acadia National Park when Jasper was just 8 months old.

We are looking at a week in February when Jasper has a school break. Tyler’s always loved snow and cold weather so right now we have our sights set on visiting Norway. Neither of us have been, and at the end of winter, there are more daylight hours and a good chance of seeing the Northern Lights. Not to mention epic views, train rides, ferries through fjords, and polar bears.

We will need three plane tickets, hotels or airbnbs, and in-country travel for what we hope can be a 7-10 day trip. Our doctor has told us to go for it, but to not wait too long. So this is us going for it. It feels incredibly uncomfortable to be asking for help in this way, but the chance to make these memories for Jasper with his dad is just not something we want to let slip away.
