Please Help Tyler Wilson Fight Anti-NMDA Encephalitis

Dear Family, Friends, and Compassionate Strangers –
A few months ago, our 20-year-old family member, Tyler Wilson, was full of life, thriving in his job, and living the life of a healthy young man. But that suddenly changed, and now he is fighting for his life.
During the week of September 23rd, 2024, Tyler gradually became ill, and within days, on September 27th, while at work, he began to get worse and was taken to Mosaic Hospital in St. Joseph, MO, where he remains to this day.
Initially, the doctors were unable to diagnose him. He was having seizures and symptoms of some type of swelling in the brain. As his condition deteriorated, he slipped into a catatonic state, unable to communicate. After a battery of tests, he was finally diagnosed with Anti-NMDA Receptor Encephalitis, which is a rare disease that causes the body's immune system to attack healthy brain cells and tissues. It can cause a wide range of physical and mental health effects, including seizures, psychosis, memory loss, weakness or paralysis in the arms or legs, permanent disability, and even death.
Doctors have been treating him for 5 weeks, first with steroids, which failed to work, then with plasma exchange therapy. He was intubated and sedated and now has a trach to help him breathe. He is still in a catatonic state (unable to speak or communicate with us) and is going to be flown to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, where a team of doctors is ready to begin a trial treatment to try to help him recover and bring him back to us.
We are doing all we can to help him recover and reclaim his life. He is only 20 years old and has his whole life ahead of him. Tyler is a true country boy, lives on a farm, loves to go 4-wheeling, hiking in the woods, hanging with his friends, playing golf, chess, checkers, helping his grandparents around the farm, and he loves Marvel movies. He graduated from Savannah High School and works at a home improvement company in Savannah, Missouri. Everyone is waiting for Tyler to come back; he is dearly missed.
The mounting expenses are overwhelming. His dad, his uncle, his friends, and family have essentially been living at the hospital. We remain hopeful and trust in God that Tyler will heal and come back to us. With him being moved to St. Louis, his dad is going to pretty much need to live down there to be with him every day.
We humbly ask for your support as we fight alongside Tyler. Any donation, regardless of the amount, will make a tremendous difference in his road to recovery and will help us focus on his healing rather than the financial strain. If you're unable to contribute financially, sharing this campaign with others means so much to us.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. We cannot express how deeply we appreciate your support, your kind words, your prayers, and your love. It helps to know we are not alone in this battle for Tyler's life.
With Love and Gratitude,
