Hi everyone,
As many of you know, my life is a constant rotation of classrooms, rehearsal rooms, and the cabaret stage. Between directing middle school productions of Little Shop of Horrors and preparing for my own professional cabaret show this September, my days are full of art, education, and community.
Recently, I hit an unexpected and significant "plot twist." Due to a long-standing administrative error with my school’s payroll department regarding my FMLA leave, I was hit with a sudden notice that I am responsible for repaying over $1,200 in back-pay immediately.
While I’ve worked hard to advocate for a fair resolution, the school is proceeding with a heavy deduction schedule that will take nearly 10% of my gross pay for the next five paychecks. As anyone in education or the arts knows, an unexpected hit like that—especially as we head into the summer months—is more than just a "jarring adjustment." It is a genuine financial hardship that affects my ability to cover basic living expenses while I continue to give 100% to my students and my craft.
I’m reaching out to my community for a little "intermission" support. My goal is to raise $1,230 to offset these mandatory deductions and ensure that I can stay on my feet and keep my focus where it belongs: on my students, my stage, and the stories I’m working so hard to tell.
Whether it’s the cost of a "concession stand" snack or a "front-row seat," any contribution helps ease the burden of this administrative oversight. If you aren't able to donate, a share or a kind word goes a long way.
Thank you for being part of my "village" and for supporting the people who work behind the scenes and under the lights.
With gratitude,
Tyler
