Hello, my name is Chris, and I am a close friend of Tyler Sellers. I am starting this fundraiser on his behalf because he is now facing one of the biggest challenges of his life after a tragic accident this past weekend.

The Story

On the night of Saturday, September 6th, 2025, Tyler suffered a devastating accident when he tripped and fell off an 8-foot embankment near his driveway. The fall fractured his spine in multiple places and left him without feeling in his left leg and foot.

Tyler underwent an 8 hour spinal surgery to relieve swelling on his spinal cord, and while the procedure was successful, the outcome is still uncertain. He remains in the hospital under close observation and faces a long road of inpatient therapy and rehabilitation.

About Tyler

If you know Tyler Sellers, you know he’s one of the most genuine, generous people you’ll ever meet. Tyler has been a single father, raising his two incredible kids — Asher, a talented athlete, and Cailynn, a brilliant 13-year-old — for most of their lives. His world grew even bigger when he married the love of his life, Lauren, and embraced her three children as his own. Overnight, Tyler became the proud father of five kids — and he did it with open arms and a full heart.

To provide for this larger family, Tyler took on a more demanding job as a hospital security guard. His work is tough, often requiring him to restrain disorderly or mentally ill patients, but he has always shouldered it with strength and dedication.

And outside of work? Tyler is that rare kind of friend we all wish we had. The one who shows up with a smile (and maybe a 6-pack) when you’re having a bad day. The one who gives you a place to sleep when you’ve got nowhere else to go. Tyler is always the helper, never the one asking for help. But now, he and his family need us.

The Challenge

This accident came at a cruelly ironic time: the Sellers family was already in the process of selling their home because of the unsafe embankment that caused Tyler’s fall.

Now, they are facing mounting medical bills:

• Hospital stay at UAB: $3,025 per day

• Inpatient rehabilitation: $600–$1,000 per day

• Private therapy programs (30 days): $5,000–$20,000

While the family is pursuing short-term disability, the reality is that if recovery takes too long, Tyler risks losing his job — the very job that supports his wife and five children.
