Tyler is a very skilled defenseman entering his last season of minor hockey. It's his one love, and has been since the age of 4 years old. He made midget AAA this year (Fort Saskatchewan), which has been his dream for the last few years. He has worked very hard on and off the ice to reach this level.
Midget AAA in Alberta is very expensive though. About $8,500 for the season for his registration and team fees alone. As his parents, we've been struggling financially for several years and have two other children, and we just don't know how we will pay for Tyler's hockey this year. We already work three jobs between us and Tyler works part time as well a few evenings a week. Unfortunately the extra work is minimum wage and doesn't bring in much.
But we can't take hockey away from Tyler. We need to find a way to fund this season. Hockey is his passion and his only extracurricular activity, and it would shatter him to not be able to play this level for his final midget year. He also has great potential to go on to Jr A next year. He has already been offered an affiliate spot with the AJHL Grande Prairie Storm (Jr A). After that Tyler wants to go on to university hockey, where hopefully scholarships will help with his education.
Please help us keep Tyler in hockey this year, and keep him moving towards his long term hockey and education goals.
