Help Tyler Lee Lightner Become a Math Teacher

Hello, everyone. My name is Tyler Lee Lightner, or Ty for short. I’ve created this post to raise money for my next year in college. Currently, my circumstances have prevented me from paying for it myself.

My main goal for going to college is to become a math teacher. It’s been my dream since the sixth grade. I believe that we don’t have enough teachers in Georgia who create a fun, engaging, and easy-to-understand learning experience for students. In the high school I attended, many of my teachers were dispassionate about what they did. The only one I could turn to was my math teacher, Mr. T (I won’t put his name here). Out of every math teacher I have ever had, he was the only one that made learning it fun. I learned significantly better in his class because of these reasons, so I figured that we need more teachers like him in the education system. Ever since then, I have been determined to be the change I wish to see, and I want to use my passion for math to help students the same way Mr. T helped me. To achieve this, I’ve observed the common characteristics of good and bad teachers during my time in grade school, and I took the teaching pathway as well to learn as much as I can. Several people at my on-campus tutoring job have said that they love getting taught by me, so I think I’m on the right path. Of course, I still have a lot to learn about teaching math.

But first, I need to get past my current financial burden. My mother and I aren’t making enough money to pay off next school year. I cannot take a gap year either because the classes I need for my degree won’t be offered again until three years from now, which is past when my academic scholarships run out. So, that’s why I’m making this page. Money is the only thing stopping me right now from living out my dream and helping out future students like Mr. T did for me. I need at least the first $1500 by August 19th, 2025 and then the rest by January 2nd, 2026.
