Help Tyler Kick His Brain Tumor To The Curb!

Donación protegida
My cousin Tyler England is one of the most driven and hardworking people I know.  He has been dedicated to his job at Chick-Fil-A for over eight years. He saved up and was able to buy his first house a few years ago! He is very responsible and someone I personally look up to. We come from a very close family. The support from our family is going to play a huge role in Tyler's situation and hopefully the support from people seeing this will help too.

For a few years Tyler has been having headaches, dizzy spells and feeling faint. Once it got bad again he made the decision to see a doctor. The day before his 25th birthday Tyler had a doctor's appointment confirming he has a brain tumor.

The neurosurgeon has recommended surgery. The tumor is in the 4th ventricle cavity making it hard for the spinal fluid to properly flow. He stated that it was a medium sized tumor (27.2mm by 14.2mm). At this time we do not know if it's cancerous. The tumor is in an area which can cause circulation issues, blood pressure issues as well as breathing issues. Tyler has been advised that if he feels dizzy or experiences a really bad headache as he did back in January that he is to contact the doctor’s office right away.

The goal for the surgery is to go in and remove as much of the tumor as they possibly can and send a sample out for a biopsy. Depending on the results of the biopsy this will, of course, lead us to the next steps. If everything works out well then, and they can remove it all, they will continue to monitor Tyler with occasional MRI’s, etc. If they are not able to get everything out, they may recommend radiation after the surgery.

The surgery could be 6 to 8 hours as they will take it very slow since the area they are operating on is close to areas that could cause other issues. Tyler will be in ICU for at least one day, could be longer again depending on the results. It appears he will be in the hospital for 3-6 days recovering. If he does not need rehab then he will be able to head home for his 4-6 weeks of recovery at home.

Of course the surgery always has risk factors involved, such as: spinal fluid leaking, double vision, balance issues, wound healing, stroke/coma (we were told this is not likely, but of course wanted us to know all the risks).

Tyler's surgery is scheduled for Friday, May 22nd. The donations we get will go towards Tyler's medical bills as well as other expenses such as his mortgage, utility bills, and so on. It would be really special to receive donations as it would be one less concern Tyler and the family have to worry about. I am hoping to provide them with some relief in such a crazy time. Thank you for reading and thank you for future donations and please don't hesitate to share this page! We will continue to update as we know more.
