Rallying Around Tyler During His Fight for Hope - Let’s help get him to Cancer Treatments
My husband and I are starting this GoFundMe for our neighbor and our friend, Tyler. The picture I posted is of his best friend and dog Stitch.
Over time, we’ve gotten to know Tyler and have seen up close the strength it takes for him to keep going. He’s 33 years old and currently battling Stage 4 lung cancer. He is a veteran, lost his father years ago, and doesn’t have much family or support advocating for him right now.
Recently, Tyler’s doctors discontinued standard treatments. As a last effort, he qualified for a clinical trial through UCLA that requires him to be there three days a week. This trial represents real hope, but getting to and from treatment has become incredibly difficult.
Tyler is no longer able to work, and nearly all of his money has gone toward medical care. His car has broken down and now needs a new engine, leaving him without reliable transportation. We are hoping to raise funds to help either repair his car so he can get himself to treatment, or cover Uber or Lyft rides to and from UCLA three times a week.
One constant source of comfort for Tyler through all of this has been his dog, Stitch. Stitch is his best buddy and has been right by his side through the hardest days. Tyler has tried his best to care for him, even as his health has declined. When it’s been too much, my husband and I step in to help, and along the way we’ve completely fallen in love with Stitch. Everyone who meets him does. The bond between them is real and meaningful, and keeping them together matters deeply. Stitch needs his dad, and Tyler needs him too.
Tyler doesn’t ask for help. He just keeps doing the best he can. Right now, though, he needs a village.
If you’re able to donate, share, or send a word of encouragement, it would mean more than we can say. Any support will help Tyler continue treatment and focus his energy on what matters most. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page helps just as much.
Tyler deserves a chance, and we’re so grateful for every bit of love and support.
