Help Tyler Fight Stage 4 Cancer and Support His Family
Donation protected
Hi, we are Scott and Teah (Tyler’s brother and sister), and we are reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your help on behalf of our brother and his beautiful family, Ashley (wife), and three precious girls, Kenzi (14), Jeanie (12), and little Nova (6).
Tyler has been living his best life, working a job that makes him happy, spending time with his favorite people in the whole world (his family), and tinkering around with music and hobbies. He has supported his family as a professional dog groomer, a physically demanding job. He has worked hard, standing for long hours, lifting dogs, and providing compassionate care to pets and their owners. Through it all, he’s been the sole breadwinner, ensuring Ashley could stay home to care for their children, especially Nova, who has special needs and requires additional time and attention.
Tyler’s Devastating Diagnosis
Over the last several months, Tyler began experiencing intense, unexplained pain. It started gradually but quickly became debilitating. Multiple visits to the ER and consultations with different doctors finally led to a heartbreaking diagnosis: stage 4 colorectal cancer.
Tyler has already undergone a colectomy years ago due to prior health issues, making this new battle even more complex. He’s now starting immediate radiation to manage pain and bleeding, with chemotherapy to follow at the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders in Denton, Texas.
Tyler is just at the beginning stages of learning about treatment plans and chemotherapy options. We are concerned about how he will respond to the chemotherapy due to his long medical history. He is no longer able to work. The pain is too great, and he has already lost so much mobility and muscle mass. Simple tasks like getting out of bed, eating, or walking a few feet have become almost impossible.
Ashley now cares for her husband around the clock, transports him to near-daily doctor appointments, and manages her daughters’ and her own emotional needs. She is now looking for part-time work as an Administrative Assistant to help relieve some immediate financial stress, but her job will need to be virtual with flexible hours to work around their uncertain day-to-day needs. Jobs like these are hard to find (and if you know of someone looking to hire, please let us know!). Ashley is also working hard to fill out forms for long-term government assistance. However, some of these services require a lengthy application process and could take 5-12 months before they take effect.
Their girls are handling the news the best they can. Tyler had to miss the end-of-year performances and awards this year, which was hard on them. The girls have always looked forward to their “date nights” with Dad; he was so good about taking them out individually every month. The girls are already missing out on precious moments.
Why We’re Asking for Help
Tyler is fighting for his life. When we spoke with him after he received the news of his diagnosis, he expressed his deepest concern for his family, not himself. He wants to ensure they do not have to carry extra stress while he goes through this ordeal. Their deepest financial concern is losing their home.
We are raising funds to help Tyler and Ashley get through the coming months without the added burden of financial fear. We need to raise enough money to get them by for the summer, so they can process what is coming and prepare for long-term support. Tyler and his family live modestly and require about $3,700 monthly for all their needs. If you can donate, every dollar raised will go directly toward basic living expenses, medical costs, and transportation.
Tyler has always been a proud, hardworking man. Asking for help is not in his nature. But cancer has taken away his ability to provide, and now, we are asking on his behalf.
How You Can Make a Difference
We know that times are hard for many families right now. But if you can give, even a small amount, it will make an immediate difference for Tyler and his girls.
$10 helps pay for gas to get to chemotherapy
$25 helps cover a day’s worth of groceries
$50 helps with a utility bill or co-pay
$100+ gives a cushion toward rent, medication, and household needs (their monthly mortgage is $1,200).
If you are unable to give financially, please consider sharing this campaign. Every share helps us reach more people who might be able to step in and lighten this load. Share it with your church, pickleball friends, co-workers, neighbors, that random lady in the store, anyone!
He wants to be here for the long haul to enjoy many more moments and milestones with his family. We are holding onto hope that with treatment, time, and support, Tyler will have the chance to keep making those memories.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Scott and Teah
