In a heartbreaking turn of events, Tyler Joseph lost his incredible mother, Shema, this past Saturday, April 25, 2026. I invite you to join me as we rally together and honor her extraordinary spirit by covering funeral and other upcoming expenses. Shema was born in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands in 1976—she was only 50 years old. She cherished her heritage, and her desire was to return to St. Thomas for her final resting place. She cherished every visit as she was surrounded by the Caribbean’s breathtaking blue waters and white sands, and we all want to ask you to join us to have Tyler return her to the land that brought her so much joy.
Shema worked for the Huntsville city school system for many years and positively influenced our children’s lives. But as we all know, Shema’s greatest job was being Tyler’s mother. God gave her this blessing, and she took the opportunity very seriously. We have all watched Tyler’s journey in his young life as Shema shared with us with utmost pride. She was an amazing mother, at times working 2-3 jobs simultaneously so that she made ends meet. She graduated from Alabama A&M with her master’s degree, and made sure that Tyler had the same experience. He recently graduated from UAB with a degree in music technology, and a minor in film.
So I invite you to join us in paying tribute to this remarkable woman by helping Tyler bring her home to the Virgin Islands for a heartfelt celebration of life as he scatters her ashes in the waters that she cherished. Together we can alleviate the burden of expenses, and ensure that Shema’s legacy lives on. Shema’s love for life, her family and friends, her compassion and generosity inspired everyone around her and her absence will be deeply felt. Please join us as we come together to donate and assist Tyler with all of the upcoming expenses during this most difficult time in his life.
