Help Tyler and Family Rebuild Their Home

Hi everyone! If you don’t know me, I’m Spencer, Tyler’s partner. I’ve been around to watch the last several months throw everything they can at Tyler and his household; four insurance claims, interpersonal struggles, and other financial hardships.

In November, a tub leak took out an entire bathroom and reduced one to a toilet and studs. In February, a tree punched a hole in his roof, and an incompetent insurance rep held up the repair for months. Two weeks ago, a sewer clog rendered what was left of the downstairs bathroom unusable and took out plumbing for two days, and then a week later the sewer clean out stopped functioning, costing $3500 out of pocket and backing up sewage water into what was remaining of the ground floor.

Insurance has decided that this most recent backup will be a separate claim, the fourth, meaning four out-of-pocket deductible payments of $1000. Several other minor repairs (some of which aren’t even started for a multitude of reasons) and a great deal of stress has resulted in Tyler going through one of the toughest times of his life, and his household being laden with stress as well.

A lot of you have known Tyler longer than I have and know what he’s done for people. He’s spent most of his life building a found family, helping others meet to build their network of friends, and going out of his way to help when he can. He’s provided a space both in his home and in his shop that is safe and welcoming for all folks, taken in people who need a landing pad, even taken in a wonderful kid and adopted him as his own.

I wanted to put this together to hopefully be able to show him that what he has sent out into the world can return to him as well. He has always struggled with asking for help, so I’m asking on his behalf whether he likes it or not. As a queer and neurodivergent person, I want to help another queer and neurodivergent household overcome these challenges, given people in our walks of life face enough as it is in everyday experiences. Please help me return the love and care he has shown for most of his life, and help the family of ‘Boobhaus’ sleep soundly knowing their home is safe and secure.
