Help Tyler after major car accident
Hi everyone, Tyler was involved in a single car accident on February 19th, sustaining major injuries. He was intubated and airlifted to the trauma center in Walnut Creek where they determined he suffered a brain injury, a massive laceration to his head, open fracture to his nose, missing teeth, broken ribs, partially collapsed lung and nerve damage to his right arm, resulting in total loss of movement in that arm. Tyler was unconscious and further put into a sedated state for the first 24 hours to alleviate any further trauma or stress. His condition was initially unknown being that his injuries were severe but he has since made great progress. He has undergone several CT and MRI scans which show his brain bleed has stopped and things are improving. He spent three days in the ICU but has thankfully been transferred to a hospital closer to home on the 22nd.
Many have reached out asking how they can help.
Tyler has a long road of recovery ahead of him. The doctors are hopeful he will make a full recovery but tests continue daily to monitor his progression. He has no memory of the accident and is still struggling to remember day to day things now. Truth is we may never know what happened but we are just grateful he is here with us today. As he progresses, reality of his situation is setting in and he is very afraid. Aside from the immense financial burden, he’s scared his arm will never fully recover. The doctors are hopeful with physical therapy and follow up nerve studies, he will get there. While his brain injury is expected to heal, everything is uncertain. We do not know how long he will be hospitalized for. Thankfully Tyler has health coverage but unfortunately there are a lot of deductibles and percentages that he needs to pay. The coverage alone is just not enough in situations like these. Between the life flight transport, the multiple scans, the continued hospital stay, physical therapy and other specialized medical treatments needed, it’s adding up very quickly. In the following months he and his girlfriend Heather will be unable to work, as he will need someone with him 24/7 for help in daily activities and transport to medical appointments. Lastly, while this is the least of our concerns right now, his car was totaled and deemed a complete loss. Between having it towed, spending time at the junk yard and needing a replacement in the future, it is another financial burden for him.
We created this fundraiser for those asking how you could help. Any dollar donated to him is greatly appreciated. We ask that if you contact him to please help him remain calm and optimistic. He needs all the love and support he can get right now and we are so grateful for the amazing community of support that has rallied around him. We appreciate it more than you will ever know.
