Help Tylene Berman Beat Leukemia
A couple of months ago, our sweet mother, Tylene Berman, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, an aggressive cancer of the blood and marrow. She has gone through a round of chemotherapy and a 6-week hospital stay, and while that improved her condition dramatically, her doctors are advising 3 additional significantly stronger rounds of chemotherapy and recovery over the next few months. They believe that she will not need a marrow transplant, which is awesome!
Due to the difficult situation with Covid-19, doctors are giving her the option to receive treatment and recover at home, rather than spend months in the hospital in isolation or near isolation. As our father is working, he will not be able to give her the care and assistance she will need during the day, so we are going to get somebody to cook and clean, in addition to assisting mom during her recovery. The chemo side effects at their peak will make it difficult for her to get up from bed or her chair, and she will likely be unable to even eat solid foods, but the treatment will make her better, and for that, we're thankful.
Though it has not been an enjoyable couple of months from a health perspective, our family has been shown so much love and support, and we are incredibly grateful. The doctors feel that this treatment route has a near 90% chance of success, so that is a real blessing!
Many have asked how they can help, and so we created this fundraiser to help them through this difficult time. Thank you so much to all who have done so much for our family!
