Help Tylan Get a Wheelchair Accessible Van

Hello, my name is Joshua Bourgeois. I am also known as Dad to a family of 9 children. My son Tylan died of S.I.D.S. at 3.5 months old but was brought back to life by my dad with CPR. He was diagnosed with cerebral palsy not long after. He is now 16 years old and healthier than ever! The only problem is the bigger and healthier he gets, the harder it gets for me and Mom to transport him in the current van we own and unfortunately the one we have cannot be modified for Tylans needs.

We have reached out to every avenue possible to try and get help with getting him a Wheelchair Accessible Van and have hit dead ends every time. I am a hard-working man and have done my best to provide for my family in every way I can. Tylan's social security that he once received was shut down 7 years ago due to my hourly income rate, even though it is HIS money and not mine. Not to mention it is not taken into account everything else that it takes for our one-income household. Chyra (my wife) is a stay-at-home Mom/Nurse/Teacher/Therapist and everything else you can think of that it would take to manage a household with our unique needs.

With all that being said, I am at a loss with what to do and how to purchase a van without asking for help. I know that an outright purchase is A LOT to ask but if we can raise enough for a substantial down payment, or even enough for a reliable used van would truly be a dream come true.

Tylan currently is moved by me and Mom using a draw blanket from chair to custom car seat (that he is also growing out of). Each trip gets a little more difficult, and his trips have now been reduced to Dr. visits. It breaks my heart knowing Tylan is having to miss out on something he truly loves,as time passes that he will never get back. And then knowing that as his dad I am failing him for not being able to provide something that is so important.

Anyone taking the time to read our and Tylan's story, I thank you. From the bottom of my heart, I and We SINCERELY am appreciative of any help.

Please, Please, Please Share... the small acts of kindness make the biggest difference.

Love, The Bourgeois Family
