Joe is raising this fundraiser for Tye Irwin, a close friend and a dedicated United States Forest Service employee who has spent nearly 20 years protecting others as a wildlands firefighter. Tye has served on a fire engine crew, as a hotshot, and as a smokejumper, putting personal safety on the line time and again for the sake of his community. Now, after the Hawk wildfire in Reno, Nevada, Tye is the one in need of help. Despite doing everything possible to save his home, Tye lost his house and all of his belongings in the fire. He also sustained superficial burns to his face and hands. Thankfully, he will recover physically, but the loss of his home and everything he owned is heartbreaking.

Right now, Tye is living in a hotel with only the clothes on his back while he tries to figure out what comes next. The USFS is currently covering the hotel cost, but Tye will still need support for temporary housing and basic essentials as he begins the long process of recovery. Anything given will help provide some stability during this incredibly difficult time and remind Tye that he is not facing this alone.
