“Hi I’m Ty, owner of Ebb & Flow and a longtime resident in Reno’s hidden valley. I lost my entire business in the mudslide over the weekend.
I work out of my home studio; and lost our entire studio space, dye & apothecary garden, inventory, production supplies, shipping supplies, & some tools/machinery in the mudslide. If it wasn’t caught in the physical slide it is now contaminated due to the landlords refusal to remove the toxic waste.
We are still safe inside our home until we find a new lease, and saved all we could amongst the rushing water and property damage.
I am still in shock; but damages easily top 12,000 from what I can remember is in my shop currently. Estimated costs of moving, loss of security deposit, and other expenses may come to another 10,000.
Right now the goal is to get out of this situation this week and find leases so we can get Ebb & Flow back up & running by mid July, while also avoiding any further health impacts and contamination due to the toxic flood waters we are surrounded by.
I have been collecting, perfecting, and building this apothecary production space for 13 years.
The uncertainty / inability to work is paralyzing.
On June 21 the landlord finally came to assess the damage. His response was to not offer help other than a shovel, & gave us 30 days to find a new place after 5 years of caring for this land and neighbors.”
