Help Ty Move Past Northwest Chevrolet

Hi,

I'd like to start off by apologizing for the length of this summary, but please read to the end...it should help you to understand why I am so passionate about helping my friend.

My name is Jesse Rogers and I met Ty Davis when she and her wife moved next door to me in Blaine, WA in the winter of 2015/2016. Ty immediately made it known that she wasn't going to be a stranger and proceeded to cross every boundary that I set up as a solid introvert...and when it was all said and done Ty became the closest friend I've ever had! Ty is selfless, probably to a fault, and does more for others more than she does herself. In 2017 Ty was diagnosed with breast cancer and started a battle that no one should ever have to fight, a literal fight for her life. As an active person, having cancer, and the subsequent treatments, zapped her energy level and kept her from doing what she loved which is working in her yard and playing with her new grandchild, but that didn't stop her. She went through treatments, medications, and surgery, and when it was all said and done, she beat cancer...while continuing to work! Which brings me to why I am setting up this account.

Up until today (8/9/2021) Ty had been an employee of Northwest Chevrolet where she started as a janitor. She worked her way up to service driver, then to a position as a service writer, then the warranty administrator, and lastly to the manager’s position within the parts department. Ty was asked to take the job and turn around a department that had been losing money for years and was simultaneously told that she made to much money in her last position which meant that she would be taking a pay cut as well as taking on additional responsibility. Ty ultimately took the position, and the pay cut, knowing that the opportunities were greater as the parts manager than they would have been as a warranty administrator which speaks to her character and commitment to her job. All that Ty asked in return was to have her pay plan reevaluated in 1-year. Fast-forward two and a half years and Ty has turned around the department to being profitable and built up a group of employees that work hard to continually meet ever more lofty goals. She did all this also while never having had a conversation about her pay plan, or even a raise. Even while disagreeing with some decisions that were being made, as of late, Ty always put the dealership first and likely would have stayed through to retirement but that was cut short.

After struggling for weeks with emotions she couldn't control she started questioning if her cancer medications might be affecting her negatively. She considered that having been exercising for the last 8 months, to get to a healthier place, she may have inadvertently created a situation where she was overdosing herself. She decided to check her blood pressure to see if everything was okay and found that it was elevated to 160+/90+ which led to an immediate trip to the emergency room. Still, she only worried about her work. She took the time while at the hospital to contact her employees and let them know that she wouldn't be in on Monday due to her health. She followed that up by reaching out to her manager, the business owner, and the HR manager to let them know what she was going through...which would be standard practice. When Monday rolled around instead of getting a call finding out how she was doing and if she was okay, the call she received was to let her know that the company was going in a different direction and that she was being let go...

Ty is 53 years old, and no one should have to start over in their career at that point. At that point we should be focusing on retirement and living our best life. While I would like to turn back time and make everything better, that's not an option, but I figure maybe I can help save up enough money to pay off her truck so that she can have one less thing to worry about in the meantime. Please join me in trying to do something good for a very special person who did not deserve to be cast aside the way that Northwest Chevrolet decided to do!
