Help Ty Go to CalArts

This GoFundMe was made to support Ty, a 22 year old trans filmmaker living in Los Angeles who cannot afford to go to their dream college.

Ty has been passionate about film and writing starting at a very young age. Their art is made by necessity not only because they want to spend their life making films but because Ty's art helps them maintain their mental health on a daily basis. 

Last month Ty saw these dreams come to fruition when they were accepted to CalArts as a film student. We are all so proud of them and know how much they deserve this opportunity. Unfortunately though, the money the school offered Ty to attend was not nearly enough to cover tuition, housing, and materials. Not only that, by attending CalArts, Ty wouldn't be able to work full time; Which would cut down access to money they need to keep secure housing, pay for food, medication, and other necessities 

Ty cannot afford to go to their dream school AND live safely. This is a college fund but it is also a means for survival. 

And while many of us can turn to our families for financial support, Ty's family exhausted a majority of leftover resources and funds on their mother's cancer treatment, care taking, and funeral arrangements. Ty has gone through every appeal process possible trying to get more money, and has applied for countless scholarships and grants all while they continue to support themselves financially.  None of these avenues have been able to support Ty in the way they need. 

So we turn to you: helping Ty attend CalArts is a mode of bettering their current financial position in order to one day do what they love: write and make films! Please support our friend's dream to be a filmmaker and help keep them safe by making a small contribution. Every dollar helps.
