HELP TY FOCUS ON HEALING

Donation protected
Our son, Houston (Ty) Pirtle, was the lone worker injured in the Windsor, Colorado, oil site explosion on December 22nd. He received 3rd degree burns to his hands and 2nd degree burns to his face and was rushed to the local hospital burn unit. His family’s Christmas could have been so different and we are so grateful he is alive.

His wife, Rachel, is a stay-at-home mom for their two children, ages 3 and 1, and has been by his side for the past 8 days since he accident. She arrived home New Year’s day with the kids only to find the freezing temperatures had frozen their pipes and the house was flooded. She has been so strong through all the past days and my heart just ached to hear her voice breaking when she told me about the house.

Early morning text

It was a 3:15 a.m. text from Rachel on December 23rd that told us something was wrong but she said to call when we woke. She did call at 7 a.m. and we found out there had been an explosion at the oil site. Ty was in the burn unit at the area hospital. We were out the door in 15 minutes and on the way to the hospital.

The explosion happened Friday night around 8:45 pm. Windows rattled and residents felt and heard it from miles around. We don’t know exactly what happened and there is an ongoing investigation. Ty was the only one outside at the time of the explosion but has not been able to talk yet.

Ty has struggled many times in his life and had finally settled and was happy with his work and his family. He is so devoted to them and we are asking for assistance to ease his mind about how to care for them, so he can focus on recovering.
