We all know Ty Bellamy as a local heroine who does so much for so many.
Ty has been been doing outreach her entire life. Over the years Ty has helped hundreds of individuals and families out of homelessness and into housing. She has been able to help many individuals enter rehabilitation centers to address and recover from their struggles with drug misuse (addiction) and into counseling to confront and heal from their traumas that have been largely responsible for the addiction they struggled with. She has tirelessly provided many other services to our unsheltered population as well and they include but are not limited to: Providing food, utensils and cookware necessary for them to be able to prepare meals for themselves, driven around on a daily basis for years and served home cooked meals to thousands of unsheltered people on the streets. She has provided clothing, shoes and bedding to those struggling with homelessness to make sure they have proper weather and appropriate attire, protection for their feet and tents, sheets, pillows and blankets to have the privacy to change clothing, the storage for their belongings and the housing they need until they are housed traditionally. She has provided transportation to the doctors, hospitals, legal appointments, family visitation, to detox/rehabilitation centers, mental health appointments, shelters, and helped relocate folks when they are forced by police and/or the health department to move from the location they are currently living at.
In 2020 she left her home to reside with 211 unsheltered individuals who were displaced by Salt Lake City Law Enforcement and the Health Department of Salt Lake City. Her and those assisting took residence under I-15 for a few months until the city mayor agreed to get everyone there into local hotels on vouchers from other agencies that provided services for unsheltered people. The refuge under the freeway, "Camp Last Hope." Camp Last Hope was Utah's largest and closest experience to a sanctioned camp in the history of this state. Ty provided the blueprint for a sanctioned camp here in Utah by setting Camp Last Hope up and standing firm in that place to humanize all humans.
Ty says her Father always told her that it was her responsibility to help who and where she could with what she knows, who she knows and what she has....And with that mantra she has made it a life's missions to do her part in addressing the housing, food, clothing, medical and mental healthcare scarcity for the individuals and families experiencing it. She am just here to remind us all that each and every one of us is here, alive, and on this earth together at this time to aid, love and support one another.
For all Ty has done for others she is now in a time of need and needs the help of all of us. Ty is experiencing a very serious medical diagnosis and potential ongoing surgeries or procedures. Ty would like to use this platform to ask each and every one of you Female and Male to make sure to get your Breast Cancer screening. And says she is happy to provide resources for free screenings or low cost screenings if you are without insurance.
Ty is currently not able to work due to her situation and is in danger of losing her own housing. If you have the ability to share this Go Fund me it would be greatly appreciated and helpful. Anything helps as we try to assist Ty in getting back on her feet and through this rough time. We all experience times when we need help. This is Ty's time.... please donate what you can and share the Go Fund me post with those you are able to.
Lets show Ty that all her advocacy and work helping others can be returned to her in her time of need.
