Help two trans lesbians waiting on a job to start

Donation protected
My name is Rachel Leyba. I'm an autistic, disabled trans Latina in Albuquerque, New Mexico. My partner, Lily, is also trans and neurodivergent. For several years I've been hoping to become a baker. But in the last few years I have developed mobility issues that make it difficult for me to work standing for more than a short time-- an hour or so at a time. This means that my previous career goal is likely to be impossible for me. As a result I returned to my previous field of clerical work.

I have recently been hired by a federal contractor that works with the Veterans Administration, however like many federal jobs, actually beginning work and getting paid requires a lengthy background check that is taking much longer than originally anticipated-- the most recent estimate I have received is that I may begin in early November. I have been applying to and interviewing at other jobs meanwhile in hopes of finding something that will start soon but have not yet had any luck.

Meanwhile my bills for November are looming and I currently have only $235 in my bank account. My partner and I have been donating plasma to try and cover expenses during October, but I have unable to donate for two weeks now-- first due to bruising from a botched draw, and then because I got sick. Your donation will help us pay for rent, groceries, utilities, medication (including hopefully soon HRT for me after more than a year without it!) and other necessary expenses for my partner and myself.
