We found two street dogs, a husky and a pittie, wandering together in Watts near 93rd and Main.
We first learned about the husky from a post online that said he had lost his family to ICE. After speaking with neighbors, we learned more about his story. He had originally been thrown out of a moving truck. A family later took him in, but that family was deported by ICE. After losing them, he was left alone again. Because of this trauma, he became extremely fearful of humans and very difficult to catch.
When we went to the neighborhood to find him, we discovered he was not alone. He had become best friends with another stray, a pittie who had been dumped by a backyard breeder. The two of them were surviving together on the streets, searching for food, water, and a safe place to rest.
Neighbors in the area had been doing their best to feed them, but they were still living outside and exposed to the elements. With the recent heavy rains in Los Angeles, it was heartbreaking to see them out in the cold just trying to survive.
We shared their story on my TikTok page at tiktok.com/@savethedogs to raise awareness. With the help of professional trapper Cathi Perez, we were finally able to safely rescue both dogs and keep them together.
The husky and the pittie are now safe in the care of Stacy Hope Rescue and their boarding facility. They have both been spayed and neutered, vaccinated, and received medical attention from Stacy Hope’s veterinary team. After everything they have been through, they finally have a chance at safety and healing.
We have named them HOPE (the pittie), and ANGEL (the husky).

Your donation will help cover their boarding and medical care, as well as training for the husky so he can recover from his trauma and eventually be adopted. The husky is currently working with Redemption Tails, a trainer who specializes in helping dogs rebuild trust and confidence after severe trauma. Training and boarding costs $800 per week and he will need a minimum of three weeks.
The pittie needs eye surgery ($2k). In the meantime, we are hoping to find a loving foster who can give her a comfortable home while she heals.
Please consider donating to support these two beautiful dogs who had nobody looking out for them. Your support will help give them the chance to live healthy and happy lives with families who will love them.
The total cost we need is: $9263.49 to help cover them both. Any additional funds would go towards transport and any needs they have for adoption.
