PLEASE NOTE: This campaign is now closed, however you can still donate to the family at this link.

Hi everyone,

My name is Louise, I'm from Scotland. I'm helping friends in Palestine raise funds to rebuild their lives following the atrocious destruction currently being carried out.

The funds are being raised for the Herzallah family:

  • Yamen, 40, an engineer
  • Huda, 33, business administrator
  • Lara, 8
  • Ghena, 5

Below is the story from Lara and Ghena, with a little help from their uncle, Ahmed:

Hello, we are Lara and Ghena from Gaza, two young dreamers aged 8 and 5.

Our aspiration is to become renowned YouTubers, so we embarked on creating a channel on YouTube, curating content that we poured our hearts into.

Living in a cosy house, our father sustained our family as an engineer. However, our lives took a tumultuous turn when he lost his job, and our home fell victim to the ravages of war.

Amidst the chaos, our sanctuary crumbled, shattering not just our physical abode but also our dreams.

In better times, we were blessed with the companionship of nine adorable kittens we cherished dearly.

Tragically, the harsh reality of conflict claimed their innocent lives, leaving us with only one surviving feline friend whom we hold dear.

Despite the hardships and loss, our spirits remain resilient, fuelled by the hope of rebuilding our shattered lives.

The harrowing experiences we endure during the relentless conflict in Gaza are robbing us of our childhood innocence and leave us yearning for a sense of normalcy.

Our fervent desire is to return to Gaza, reconstruct our humble abode, and rekindle the flames of our aspirations. Beyond our personal endeavours, we long to resume our education, eager to enrich our minds and shape our future.

The urgent need for fundraising stems from the dire circumstances we face, compelling us to seek refuge beyond the borders of Gaza.

With our mother aspiring to acquire Egyptian citizenship, we hope to secure a pathway to safety in times of peril. Our family of four, consisting of our resilient parents and us, stands united in our quest to overcome adversity and rebuild our lives anew.

We would be immensely grateful for your generosity if you find it in your hearts to support us on our journey. Your kindness could be the beacon of hope that illuminates our path towards a brighter tomorrow. Thank you deeply for considering our plight and extending a helping hand in our time of need.

NOTE:

The fundraising goal of £40,000 is being raised to help the family rebuild their lives. Initially, they had intended to leave Gaza, but following the closing of the Rafah border they cannot do so.

The fundraiser is being managed by Louise Thomason, Huda, and Ahmed Alashi, brother of Huda. Louise will be responsible for collecting funds and making sure they reach the family.
