Help Two Dedicated Students Keep Their Visas
Donation protected
My name is Naomi, and I am fundraising for two friends in my program at the Longy School of Music getting their Masters in Music Education. They are at risk of losing their visas if they do not pay $2,500 in school fees by Monday, April 14th.
My friend in the photo (wishes for her name to remain anonymous for safety), I, is one of the most hardworking, incredible people I've ever met. She came to the U.S. from Costa Rica in hopes of finding a better life for her son who has autism and her mother who struggles with lupus. She is an amazing educator who has dedicated her career towards supporting special needs students. While participating in our intensive ten-month program where we at one point were enrolled in ten classes, my friend also managed to work any campus jobs she could find, take care of her mom, and bring her son to his weekly therapy sessions. The family is currently operating on one salary from her sister and it is simply not enough. She is truly doing the absolute maximum she can and deserves to finish her degree.
My other friend, G, who also wishes to remain completely anonymous for her safety, is an incredibly hardworking, caring person. She came to the U.S. from Honduras where opportunities were extremely limited. The hope is to finish out her degree and teach music in a public school. Just like my other friend, she has also worked any on campus jobs she can find while taking up to ten classes. She is also doing the absolute maximum she can and deserves to finish her degree.
The reason I am aiming to raise $9,000 is because Monday is only the first round of fees. They will collectively still owe more than $4,000 after Monday so I am trying to get a head start on these additional fees.
Please consider helping! Losing a visa would be life-altering for both my friends. In addition to losing their degrees that they worked so hard for, my friend in the picture would no longer have access to life-altering medical treatments for her mom and son.
Every donation counts. Thank you for considering this amongst the many things in need of funding right now <3
