Goal: $89,693
Deadline: October 7, 2025
Who We Are Helping
We are raising funds to bring two Afghan refugee families to safety in Canada. For security reasons, we’re using aliases, but the stories are very real. Both families have been stranded in Pakistan for more than three years, living in hiding and at risk of deportation back to the Taliban.
Family A (The Karimi Family – alias)
A father, mother, and two young daughters. Before the Taliban’s return, the father was a respected journalist, later a government official, and a community builder. He once founded a home for orphans, where children not only found shelter but also education, inspiration, and love. Today, he and his family live in fear, unable to move freely, and his daughters have no access to school.
Family B (The Noori Family – alias)
Two brothers and a young nephew, who is in the care of the elder brother. The principal applicant was imprisoned and tortured by the Taliban after helping organize a peaceful demonstration in Kabul. He was released only after a family member put their own safety at risk to guarantee him. The three of them fled Afghanistan and now remain in hiding in Pakistan.
Together, these are seven lives in limbo — people who once stood for truth, justice, and community, now struggling simply to survive.
Why We Are Raising Funds
Through Canada’s Private Refugee Sponsorship Program, there is now a path forward. The Diocese of London (Ontario, Canada), in partnership with Unity Spiritual Centre of Windsor and Hindara Educational & Social Development Inc., have agreed to sponsor both families.
But the Canadian government requires that we raise the financial support for their first year of settlement — housing, food, clothing, transportation, and other basic needs.
That amount is $89,693, and it must be raised by October 7, 2025. Once collected, the funds will be transferred to the Diocese of London and kept in trust until the families arrive.
Why Your Help Matters
You will help two families escape real danger.
You will give children and youth the chance to grow up safe and educated.
You will stand with people who once gave so much to others — from caring for orphans to standing up for justice — and who now need our help.
Every contribution makes a difference. Together, we can turn fear into freedom and give these families the chance at a new beginning.
How You Can Help
Donate here on GoFundMe.
Share this campaign with trusted friends and networks (we ask that you avoid posting on public social media for the families’ safety).
Stand with us in spirit as we work urgently to meet this October 7 deadline.
For transparency: If, for any reason, one of the cases cannot proceed, all funds raised will go toward sponsoring another refugee family in need.
Thank you for reading, and for whatever support you are able to give.
