Twix is my 8-year-old chocolate Yorkie, and he’s been by my side since he was just 9 weeks old. He’s always been a playful, loving companion who follows me everywhere and loves to be held. Twix has a big personality—he “talks” to me when I’m about to leave the house, and if he’s left alone, he’ll let me know by knocking things over or hiding his food dish. He’s happiest when we’re together, especially when we’re playing tug and pull, his favorite game. Lately, though, Twix hasn’t been able to play like he used to. He’s already lost two teeth, and his mouth pain keeps him from enjoying the things he loves most.

Recently, Twix’s veterinarian told me that he needs dental surgery as soon as possible. All of his teeth are brown, and his gums are discolored. The vet says several rotten teeth need to be removed right away to prevent more serious health problems. It’s been heartbreaking to watch Twix struggle, knowing he can’t tell me how much pain he’s in. I want to do everything I can to help him live a long, happy life, but the cost of surgery, medications, and follow-up care is more than I can manage alone.
