Help Twenty Hill Rescue Animals in Antigua
Donation protected
Twenty Hill Farm is a small farm, owned and run by me, Ziffy Tyrrell.
I started the farm, in what was, my abandoned childhood home. I live a very simple life to afford my own animals. I am constantly overwhelmed by the desperate plight of animals in Antigua. I have been rescuing animals since I could walk, but in recent times, I believe it has gotten much worse. Starving, mange ridden dogs can be seen on most roads. I do my best on a very limited budget to feed, rescue or help care for animals in need. I have rescued and fed, literally, hundreds of dogs, as well as horses, goats, sheep, cats, cows and most recently, a donkey.
Waffles the donkey, is the current driving force behind needing to raise money. I often feed and take baby goats found or abandoned, including 2 in the last 3 weeks. Baby goats are expensive enough. at an average of $540ec (200usd/163gbp) of cheap UHT milk to feed a baby goat for 3 months. This doesn’t include the frequent need for meds, extra care, dewormers etc. Orphan animals are, more often than not, susceptible to illness, due to a compromised immune system.
Waffles is a whole lot more, he’s drinking 4 litres of milk a day and he will need to be on milk for at least another 3 months. That is a total of $3600ec. There is no feed on island suitable for Waffles, and he will need to start eating hard feed soon. This means I will have to import feed. At $21us per bag, 40 bags per pallet, 400us shipping and $350ec in customs/broker fees that’s $3698ec.
Rescuing animals is expensive, emotionally draining, and particularly difficult as a one woman band, which is what I am.
Therefore, for anyone who is in the position and wants to help the animals in need in Antigua, please consider donating. Any donations, large or small will help not only Waffles, but the endless animals I try and help on a daily basis or get calls about to assist.
