Help Turkey & Friends Stay Safe, Healthy & Warm This Winter!

Meet Little Turkey, the tiniest turtle with the biggest heart. One recent chilly evening, Turkey appeared out of nowhere in the middle of our turtle yard, her eyes shut tight and her tiny body still. I had never seen her before—too small to be on her own, yet here she was, a little survivor. Since it was close to Thanksgiving, “Little Turkey” felt like the perfect name.

I have no idea how she got into our sanctuary. With high walls and locked gates, it’s nearly impossible. Maybe her mama turtle forgot to let me know about her birth! What I do know is that she was too small and too vulnerable to stay outside, especially with the cold winter fast approaching.

Little Turkey is now cozy in our turtle hospital, resting up. She’s joined by two small turtle friends in a safe, warm space where she’s protected from the elements, and any predators.

But Little Turkey isn’t alone in needing extra care. Our sanctuary is home to dozens of special needs turtles and tortoises who can’t survive on their own. Some are recovering from injuries, others have endured years of neglect, and all need our help to stay healthy and safe this winter.
