Hi I’m Kylee, Tuckers mom. I’m making this GoFundMe on behalf of him, since he doesn’t have thumbs and he needs your help.
On Friday August 22, Tucker rolled on his back and my husband noticed a large mass near his penis (we’re all adults here, right?). I jumped out of my chair to investigate because we’re no stranger to fatty lumps popping up, but this one was different. I immediately called his dog-tor and they asked us to send a picture of the mass to see if he needed to go to the ER or if his vet could see him in between her established appointments.
Remember where I said the mass was? Yep, I had to send Tuckers dick pic to his vet. Anyone else have to do that before?
After they received the photo, they told us to bring him in so the mass could be examined. And after a couple of ours, his life and mine changed in an instant. A mast cell tumor. A potentially aggressive form of skin cancer that can spread to lymph nodes, the liver or the spleen if not treated swiftly.
The placement of the mass is horrible and required us to make an oncology appointment with a doctor an hour away from where we live. The time did not matter, as we would’ve driven even greater distances if it meant Tucker could be seen quickly.
His oncology appointment is today. He does have multiple options but all are going to be expensive (penile amputation, partial mass removal, chemo/radiation or just end of life palliative care). Which is why, I’m making this gofundme to assist in any costs we have in his treatment plans.
Currently, he is at the oncologists undergoing radiographs and imaging to assess if the cancer has spread to his lymph nodes. This alone is going to cost us $1500.
Did I also mention Tucker just had surgery two months ago to remove a large fatty lipoma from behind his armpit that was affecting his mobility? That surgery cost us $2500. At that time, we did not choose the gofundme route because my husband and I were confident in covering that cost.
But now? We need your help to ensure Tuckers quality (and potential quantity) of life is a priority.
I have been Tuckers mom for 9 years. And he has been my best friend for that time, too. He has been with me through every important stage in my adult life and I am not ready to give him up. Despite the tumor, he’s a healthy, happy and good 9 year old Labrador retriever. Please help me help him and not lose my best friend and love of my life way too soon. I thank you for reading, sharing and considering helping him.
