Help Truck Driver After Severe Accident

Donation protected
My 73-year-old selfless and hardworking stepfather, Guy Landmeier, who has a tremendous heart for horses, and has been a longtime OTR truck driver for Creech Horse Transportation, was involved in a tractor trailer accident while hauling horses through Nelson County, Kentucky on the early morning of 3/25/2024. He has suffered non-life-threatening injuries and is currently in the ICU in Louisville, KY to begin the recovery process. He has a long list of injuries including: a severe laceration on his left foot that is being treated with the hopes to save from amputation, trauma to his heart, several fractured ribs, and two lacerations on his head. It is by the Grace of God that he is still with us and remains with a positive strength and spirit while undergoing his challenging treatments and physical therapy here in the ICU.

We live in Illinois, about 5 hours from where the accident took place and where he is currently at the hospital for treatment. His spouse, my mother, has been by his side and she herself is 80 years of age and undergoing her own treatment for breast and bone cancer. Her strength through this is like nothing I’ve ever seen. I am fortunate to be here to support and help be the eyes and ears with all the different medical teams and staff and constant information being relayed. This long distance has generated a significant challenge as there is no resource available for discount or hotel reimbursement during my mother’s and my stay here to be with him.

Guy has a difficult road ahead, as we wait on further treatment on his foot to further determine if they will need to amputate, which would be from just below the knee. He will need physical therapy, further cardiovascular care, and will likely need to stay in Louisville for weeks until he is cleared to come back home to Illinois. This financial burden is and will be challenging, but knowing the tight knit horse and trucking community, it was recommended for us to reach out for support through GoFundMe as a resource.

It is never easy to find yourself or loved ones in a situation that one must ask for monetary support, however we find ourselves in a life altering situation that has faced us with this difficult task.

We also ask for support beyond the monetary aspect, as we are a family with faith in our Lord and appreciate prayers for healing, strength, and the presence of His peace through this difficult time.
