Hi my name is Jodie and I am fundraising for my husband of 32 years Troy. He is my love, my life and my everything. I honestly have no idea what I am going to do without him.
Troy is at end of Stage 4 aggressive Metastatic Lung Cancer. Doctor says he has only weeks left.
I am trying to raise $25,000 for the cost of funeral expenses and medical bills not covered in the end.
We have been married for 32 years and have a daughter (31) and a son (36) and 3 grandchildren.
I met Troy my freshman year of high school 1979. He was a senior and a "Bad Boy". . He so mad the first time I met him. After that, he was all I could think about. We lived in Garden Grove, California. We were all spoiled and not a care in the world. The only things we worried about then was being in the house by the time the street lights came on and to be washed up when we sat down at the dinner table. We finally got together for a very short time and then his father died and they moved away. Then fate brought us back together. Actually, he says it was our friend Corey. It was, but the other sounds so much more romantic. Anyway, our friend brought him to my house but did not tell him it was my party, and he sent him up first.
When I opened the door I could not believe it was him and I fell right back in love. I was just like out of a romance novel. I should have had a heart binging above my head. He had just went through divorce #2 and I was on my first. From that night on we were together. We got married Dec 2nd 1988, had our daughter the following year. At that time, I was an Executive Foreclosure Officer and he was a Commercial Pool Plumber. A friend gave him a tip on a Commercial Plumber position in Las Vegas and the next thing I knew, we were packing up and heading to Vegas. We got here on April Fools Day 1992. He got his Journeyman's card and became a Union member. He helped build the fountains in front of Ceasars Palace, the Belagio, and a few more casinos and factories as well as The Turnberry Towers, Ford Motor Corporation and more. Then he was on a jobsite with an inspector and had a form board give way, causing him to twist and fall. He had to have surgery. It blew out his bottom discs. His career was over. A few years later I became a Property Manager and he ran my Maintenance crew. We retired in 2015.
In September 2020 we were in line to play Bingo at a casino and Troy started sweating and getting light headed. It passed after a minute or so. We didn't think much of it. Then as they were calling out Bingo numbers, I felt Troy put his head on my shoulder. I thought he was fooling around, but he had blacked out.
We immediately left and on the way home it happened two more times. Now Troy is one that you have to drag to the Dr. and he would have to be dying to get him to go to the hospital. Well, he refused to let me call an ambulance but agreed that if it happened again that he would go to emergency. It happened again and because we were in the middle of Covid, I could only drop him off and wait for word of his condition. I thank god everyday for our daughter because one phone call and she was here in a heartbeat. The news came as he had a heart attack, but they were releasing him in the morning. Once he got home we realized that in two days we had appointments with a Pulmonary Specialist and an Oncologist. Since when do you see these guys if you had a heart attack???? Well....It was aggressive state 3 Lung Cancer. Two biopsies later we were in stage 4 Metastatic Lung Cancer and inoperable. In February of this year they said he had six months, maybe a year with aggressive chemo and radiation therapy. We chose Quality over quantity. My daughter and I have made sure that the "Bucket List" has been completed and she comes with our granddaughter once a week to spend the night so that he can enjoy his granddaughter and spend time with them both. Now we are at the end and the Dr says he has only weeks left. We have no life insurance and have between Cancer and Covid our savings are gone. I can't even go back to work (Uber Driver)because my car is too old as of this year, and I can't afford to buy one. So, as much as I hate to ask for help, I really
need to.
Please, can anyone help?
