Help Redbird Recover

On Thursday night our dad, Troy (Redbird) had to undergo emergency colon surgery due to a perforated intestine. He is now in recovery and the prognosis is positive, but had to get a temporary colostomy due to the rupture and massive level of infection.

All of this happened so fast and while he is expected to fully recover, he has a journey ahead and new challenges to navigate. The medical staff is helping to prepare us that he may have about a 12-month healing period. We decided to step up and step out in faith and ask for help because our dad has helped so many others in their times of need and now he needs our help.

We are fundraising for a new electric recliner for him to come home to so he is able to sit himself up pain-free and so he isn’t bed-bound during this time. Mom and dads Marrero house is scarce now since they spend most of their time in MS. But he will need to now spend most of his healing time here in Marrero. Once he is discharged and we know what his new diet will need to be, we will set up a meal train. This will give everyone the chance to visit with dad and bring food, positivity, and prayer!

We are also fundraising for some other necessary things to make this post-op life as smooth and stress-free as possible. Lastly, there may be some insurance hurdle’s to overcome since they have MS insurance now.

We mostly need your prayers right now, but any and all help is greatly appreciated by our entire family!! This was a tough decision for Molly and I, but we don’t want mom and dad to stress about any of these needs right now. We strictly want dad to focus on his healing!
