My name is David Blair, and I’m raising funds to help the upstairs tenant who lost everything in an early-morning house fire in Manistee, MI on November 29th. Troy Holtrey escaped through a window, but his entire upper-level apartment and all belongings were destroyed.
Troy had been fully prepared for an upcoming move into an MSHDA-approved apartment so he could have more time with his daughter and provide her with a better environment — but now he has nothing left to bring with him.
This fundraiser will help replace essential items lost in the fire, secure temporary housing, and furnish his new apartment once final procedural steps allow him to move in (the remaining delay is not due to anything under Troy’s control).
Local news coverage of the fire can be read here .
Fund Management & Transparency
All funds from this fundraiser will be managed by David Blair, or an approved third-party custodian if one is appointed, to ensure they are used responsibly and for their intended purpose. No cash will be given directly to Troy. All purchases will be handled by the organizer to make sure donations are used only for essential needs and recovery-related expenses.
Only appropriate and essential items will be purchased — such as clothing, temporary housing, toiletries, food, furniture, bedding, household necessities, and items needed to create a safe home environment for Troy and his daughter. No funds will be used for tobacco, alcohol, cannabis, lottery tickets, or other non-essential items. Receipts and updates will be posted as support is used.
