On April 9, 2026, a main water pipe on a neighboring residence burst, flooding Troy and Aura Gray's home and property in the middle of the night. The sudden disaster forced them to leave their home and seek shelter in a hotel. Troy and Aura Gray have leased their home for many years, building a life and community there, only to see much of it washed away in a matter of hours.

As a photojournalist, I have spent several hours over two days gathering information about their situation. The damage is extensive, and sadly, like most renters' insurance policies, theirs does not cover catastrophic flooding. The loss of personal items is estimated at 60%, leaving them with very little to rebuild their lives. This tragedy was no fault of Troy or Aura Gray, but rather the result of neighboring infrastructure failure.
