Help Troy and his family as they go through chemo
Donation protected
Troy lost his father in November of 2019 and began living with his grandparents, Bernadette and Jason, adjusting to life without his parents. Five days after his fifth birthday, he was airlifted to Anchorage from Fairbanks where he was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH), a rare disease.
LCH happens when a person’s body makes too many immature Langerhans cells. These cells are a type of immune cell known as histiocytes. When these cells build up, they can form tumors or damage tissue, bone and organs. The cause is unknown and it isn't inherited.
Scientists say that it's a cancer-like disease, and treatment plans are developed by cancer doctors. Troy's treatment is chemotherapy for over a year.
Troy is in pain but remaining extremely strong. He wants Bern to beat up the doctors but she told him they help make him all better. Bern has never witnessed him so angry before but can only imagine how he must be feeling. Troy has a lot of people in his life who love and support him and they have been visiting.
After all of the biopsies, Troy started walking on his own on July 24, going as far as getting onto the bed himself. He is a brave and determined little boy. He was in a more relaxed mood and doing puzzles. He has a strong spirit and is trying to do too much too soon, but he knows that everyone is praying for him and he knows that we will all support him as he works to get better.
On July 31, Troy left the hospital and has begun weekly treatment and many doctor appointments.
Troy's family is with him in this hard journey to healing, and have to spend a lot of time in Anchorage, away from their home in Fairbanks.
This fundraiser is established to help Troy and his family as they move through the treatment process and live away from home.
Thank you so much for helping in this time of need. We love you!
