Help Trixx Overcome Her Health Battle

Donation protected

Trixx is my 6ish-year-old hound mix. Trixie is her full name, but she goes by many other names, including Trixter because she tricked her way into my life and ultimately my heart. She is my foster fail/win. I was only supposed to have her for 2 weeks, but when she met her potential foster family, she wanted nothing to do with them, and her only interest was to find where I went. The rescue allowed me to take her on vacation with me, and that’s where she started to dig her paws into my heart. While there, I thought she jumped the backyard fence and ran away. It turns out that she jumped the fence to try to get back to me as she thought I left her. She proudly came crashing through the woods and the pond to my side with her face saying, “Oh look, I found you!!!!” When I drove her on the beach for the first time, she didn’t wait for the car to stop and jumped out the window to chase the birds. I decided to keep Trixx as a buddy for Crash as my new job would soon have me returning to the office. This was shortly prior to Covid. I found out shortly before that Trixx has severe separation anxiety and cannot be left alone in a crate if I leave the house. I think she lucked out ending up with me as once the pandemic hit, my job went and has remained fully remote. It was her little bit crazy and whole lot of love that made me fall for her.

People that know me know I often say Johnny Crash (her Foxhound sibling) is my favorite. I know I say it, but I don’t truly mean it as they are both my favorite for very different reasons. Most people that meet her often remark about how sweet she is. All she asks for in life is to be with you (often on top of you in some way) and to be loved. She is a protector of Crash and me. Just try to give me a hug in her presence and see how she reacts.

I’m reluctantly starting this GoFundMe after the encouragement of others because of the $14k (to date) of veterinary bills in the past few months. Trixx first had a cough in Nov, and it was very sudden onset. The cough did not resolve after some time. X-rays were recommended, and I opted to spend an additional fee for a specialist to review them. Thankfully, I did, as the specialist found the lung mass that my vet did not. Trixx is currently lying in the hospital with a chest tube after her lung lobe was removed yesterday. The surgery went well, and she will be there for a few days before she is stable enough to come home. The $14k spent includes the initial exam, x-rays, consults, lab work, CAT scan, surgery, biopsy, and hospitalization. My fear is that this is only the beginning of treatment. I know it is a tough time of year, and any donation would be appreciated, even if it is just kind words and keeping her in your thoughts. Thank you for taking the time to read her story.
