My name is Trixie, and I was recently diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. I am lucky to be supported through my family, work, and insurance, however, the medical expenses have already begun to rack up quickly and my resources will not be able to completely cover my treatments. I am asking for financial assistance to help lessen the impact of this life-changing turn of events.
Two weeks ago, I was spending my days working, playing volleyball, running, and working out. Life seemed normal and I was able to enjoy the activities of day-to-day life. One week ago, I could not even make it up the stairs in our house without needing to sit down to gasp for air.
A quick turn of events in my health concerned me about a potential sickness, questioning the possibility of pneumonia, so I paid a visit to the doctor, expecting a small ailment. After completing a few routine tests, I hadn’t received a solid answer, but my blood tests did not come back normal. Within a day I ended up in the ER where several more tests were performed, I found out that my immune system had crashed and I was in danger of infection, something was seriously wrong. After doctors completed a bone marrow biopsy, and stabilized my condition I was able to go home for the weekend. We scheduled an appointment for the next week to go over the results of the biopsy.
That week I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic B-cell Leukemia, also known as ALL. I was supposed to discuss options with the doctor at the appointment, but before the appointment even began, I passed out in the waiting room and was immediately admitted to the ER and then readmitted to the oncology floor to begin chemotherapy.
Depending on how my body responds to treatment I will have to endure anywhere from 8 to 12 cycles of chemotherapy to kill the mutant cells, followed by a bone marrow transplant. I greatly appreciate your time, energy, and thoughts, and ask for any donation that you might be able to make to help cover the costs of the treatments and other medical expenses incurred.
